CANADA, AN EVIDENCE

Once we made the decision to bring in a surrogate to make our family dream come true, there was just one big question.  : where to go  ?

We first studied the possibilities for couples of boys, which are few in number.

It is out of the question for us to go to Eastern Europe where the legal framework is flawed and where the risks are too great and surrogate mothers little respected.

Mexico presented constraints and uncertainties. We looked at the US option but the total budget was too big for us.

Quickly, we chose Canada for the following reasons:

> THE BUDGET

You have to plan on average between 70,000 and 100,000 euros, it's a hell of a lot, but it's still   more than a third less than in the United States.

> THE HUMAN ASPECT

Indeed, officially, surrogacy is exclusively altruistic in Canada, that is to say that surrogate mothers are not paid but reimbursed for their pregnancy costs. Casually, that changes things since the starting philosophy is based on people and not on business.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

For all these reasons, Canada has been obvious to us,

and the first contacts on the spot confirmed our first impressions. But we are aware that some couples may prefer the USA because everything is more developed  and more surrogate mothers.

> THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK

In Canada, surrogacy is accessible to all family models.

Apart from Quebec, where any contract established between intending parents and a surrogate mother is considered void, all the other provinces allow surrogacy, which is therefore legal. Depending on the province, it is also possible to have both parents recognized as legal parents on the birth certificate.

> A COUNTRY WE LOVE

We love Canada and the kindness, the sense of welcome and openness of Canadians. And there are many specialist professionals accustomed to working  with international couples (agencies, clinics, lawyers).
